Well, the 2007 Trivia Season is almost upon us. You heard right-I said season
. For many, Trivia is purely and simply that one weekend every April in Point that we all live for; a chance to renew old acquaintances, have a heck of a good time, and of course, try to do our best in the worlds largest (and best) radio trivia contest. But for some of us, we extend those warm feelings even further by participating (albeit usually by way of using IMs, esp. if the team members have become far-flung over the years) also in the other radio trivia contests held here throught the midwest over the winter and spring months every year. Together with Point, they make up a sort of "Trivia Season" that we look forward to as a whole almost as much as we do the Point contest itself. Of course, the contests I speak of are the Appleton, St. Cloud, and Medford trivia contests in January, February, and March respectively. (Naturally, I can't forget to at least mention the late, lamented WISS contest, too.) Each has its own good points, not so good points, and unique take on this thing we call "trivia". Each is worth playing in and of itself IMO, as well as sort of a "warm up" for Point.
I myself am one such individual who relishes the chance to "shake off the rust barnacles" (and of course have a lot of fun) by way of those three contests each year, as do several of my Point teammates. So I'm wondering: How many of you folks will be playing in those "other" contests? How important or not important are they to you compared to Point? What do you feel are each contest's strong and weak points? And do you look at them as something you do just for fun, as a warm up for Point, or a bit of both? (I fall into the last catagory.) I'll be interested in hearing the answers. Other than that, it's two weeks, two days, and five minutes exactly as I type this phrase until the start of the 2007 season-let's get ready to play us some trivia, Fast Eddie!
